Brass bolts for toilet tank to toilet bowl appeared to be brass, as they should be. They were actually brass plated steel and within ONE DAY were RUSTING, and STAINING the tank and bowl of the toilet.

Absolute junk!

Costs me having to go back, buy the proper material, rebuild the job, clean the damage. I'm pissed.

I have been buying Fluidmaster products for over thirty five years and can not understand why a company with a reputation for good performance products would try to cheapen their parts, fatten there profits, at the expense of the consumer who had become trusting of their reliability.

Fluidmaster has very good customer service and technical support for their products. I suggest giving them a call because they will stand behind their products and give help.

Fluidmaster does not use steel bolts only brass bolts, can I suggest giving them a call and letting them know about your experience.

Call and ask for the Technical Services Department, they can help.

The bolts are, as you said, steel, and are brass plated. Totally a deceptive trade practice by Home Depot.

You undoubtedly purchased these bolts from Home Depot. They are counterfeit bolts that are actually made by Danco and then put into Fluidmaster packaging. Fluidmaster is aware of the problem and has complained to Home Depot but the issue has not been resolved, largely due to Home Depot's marketing power and deep legal pockets.
